Seattle Reign FC, often simply called the Reign, are a professional women’s football club based in Seattle, United States. They compete in the National Women’s Soccer League, the top tier of women’s football in the country.
Founded in 2012, the club began NWSL play in 2013 as Seattle Reign FC. Under influential head coach Laura Harvey and with stars such as Megan Rapinoe, Jess Fishlock, Kim Little and Hope Solo, the Reign quickly became one of the league’s standard‑bearers. They earned back‑to‑back NWSL Shields in the mid‑2010s and reached several Championship finals, establishing a reputation for attractive, possession‑oriented football and a strong club culture.
The team has moved between venues, playing at Seattle’s Memorial Stadium, then Cheney Stadium in Tacoma during a period linked with a rebrand to Reign FC and later OL Reign after investment from Olympique Lyonnais. Subsequent changes in ownership saw the club return to Seattle and restore the historic Seattle Reign FC name, with home matches at Lumen Field. Today the Reign are regarded as one of the NWSL’s most recognisable and tradition‑rich clubs, noted for their loyal supporter base and consistent competitiveness.
