Riyadh’s first-time visitors will be most well-situated in Al Murabba where most of the city’s incredible historic and cultural highlights can be found. These include the National Museum Park, the Masmak Fortress, and Deera Square. Whilst the area emanates a sense of history, it is also a lively district filled with modern shops and restaurants.
The best spot for shopping, dining, and entertainment, however, is the glamorous Olaya district, the commercial centre of the city. Expect impressive skyscrapers, elegant hotels, and luxury fashion. It will even satisfy the most discerning travellers who expect a high level of luxury.
Alternatively swap the city altogether for the gorgeous Saudi desert. Ad-Diriyah is a spacious district at the edge of northwest Riyadh bordering the desert. Here, you’ll find some of Saudi Arabia’s finest family resorts complete with pools, spas, and golf links. What’s more, the ancient ad-Dir'iyah district, the original capital city, is right on its doorstep.
