The San Diego Padres are an American professional baseball team that compete in MLB's National League West division. The club play their home games at Petco Park in Downtown San Diego.
📜 San Diego Padres History
Formed in 1969, the San Diego Padres take their name from the Franciscan Friars who founded the first Spanish colony in southern California. Following the relocation of NFL's Chargers franchise to Los Angeles in 2017, the Padres are now the only San Diego-based team in all 4 of the USA's major professional sports leagues.
One of 6 teams never to have won the World Series, the Padres have reached the "Fall Classic" on 2 occasions in their history – in 1984 and 1998. Based at picturesque Petco Park, close to sunny San Diego Bay, the Padres' focus on assembling an exciting core of young players in the 2010s suggests that future success for the Swinging Friars may not be too far away.
