Anthony "Romeo" Santos, also known as the King of Bachata, is an American singer, songwriter and producer from The Bronx, New York City, United States. Born to a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother, he grew up immersed in Latin music.
He first gained fame as lead vocalist and principal songwriter of the bachata group Aventura, which modernised the genre and achieved international success with songs such as "Obsesión". After announcing a solo career in 2011, he released the albums "Formula, Vol. 1", "Formula, Vol. 2", "Golden", "Utopía", "Formula, Vol. 3" and the collaborative project "Better Late Than Never" with Prince Royce.
Santos is known for romantic bachata and Latin pop, blending traditional rhythms with R&B and urban influences. Key singles include "You", "Promise", "Propuesta Indecente", "Héroe Favorito" and "Inmortal" with Aventura. His accolades include a Billboard Music Award for Top Latin Album and a Latin Grammy for Best Merengue/Bachata Album for "Formula, Vol. 3".
