The clay of Court Philippe-Chatrier has welcomed some of the most famous tennis players in the world for nearly 100 years, and it remains one of the most iconic courts in the sport. As Stade Roland-Garros' primary show court, and thus the most prestigious arena at the tournament, Court Philippe-Chatrier hosts blockbuster matches and superstar players, all tournament long. As of 2020, Court Philippe-Chatrier has also been equipped with a retractable roof and extensive court lighting, ensuring the action continues day and night, come rain or shine. Category 2 seats on Court Philippe-Chatrier are located in the lower rows of the upper tier, along both sidelines and behind one baseline. Category 2 seats provide better proximity to the court than Category 3 seats, which are located behind Category 2 seats. Moreover, Category 2 seats are more affordable than Category 1 seats, which are located in the rows directly below.
