Real Club Deportivo Mallorca, S.A.D. - more commonly known as RCD Mallorca, Real Mallorca, or just Mallorca - is a Spanish professional football team based on the Balearic island of Mallorca currently playing in the country's top tier La Liga. The team plays home games at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix in Palma.
Founded in March 1916, the club was initially known as Alfonso XIII Foot-Ball Club. After early signs of strength, King Alfonso XIII himself declared the royal adoption of "Real" within the name and the club became Real Sociedad Alfonso XIII Foot-Ball Club. After the establishment of the Second Spanish Republic, the club changed its name again to Club Deportivo Mallorca before the Spanish Civil War broke out. Then in the late 1940s, it reverted back to its royal title and became the club we know today.
