The Presidents Cup is a biennial men’s golf tournament, contested between the United States and an International Team representing the rest of the world, excluding Europe. The idea to organise an international tournament similar to the prestigious Ryder Cup came to fruition in 1994 when the inaugural Presidents Cup was hosted by Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainsville, Virginia. Since then, it has become a tradition for the Presidents Cup to be held one year after the Ryder Cup.

The competition’s match play format involves 2 teams of 12. A total of 30 matches are played over the 4 tournament days. The winner of each match scores 1 point for their team, with half a point awarded to each team for a tie. With a total of 30 points to play for, each team strives to reach 15.5 points to claim this coveted trophy. Unlike other prestigious golf events, there is no prize money awarded at the Presidents Cup. All the net proceeds go to charities chosen by the players.

In 2024, the USA retained the cup with a 18.5-11.5 win. The next edition of this prestigious tournament will take place in 2026 at Medinah Country Club in Illinois.
