With the first teams now eliminated from the postseason, things are about to get serious. It's time for the MLB Division Series.
While the phrase "Division Series" was first used in baseball in 1981, it wasn't until 1993 that this round of the playoffs became a permanent part of the calendar. Effectively the quarterfinal stage of the MLB Postseason, the Division Series is the first point at which Seeds #1 and #2 take part, following their bye in the Wild Card Round.
In 2025, the best-of-5-games Division Series will take place in October. In both the American League and National League, Seed 1 will face the winner of the Wild Card series between Seeds #4 and #5, while Seed #2 will take on the winner of the Wild Card series between Seeds #3 and #6.
