Poppy, born Moriah Rose Pereira, is an American singer, songwriter and performance artist based in Los Angeles, United States. Also known as That Poppy, Moriah Poppy and Poppy Chan, she first drew attention with uncanny, android-like YouTube videos that blurred satire and pop culture critique. Musically she moves between pop, heavy metal, rock, electronic and industrial sounds, pairing sweet melodies with abrasive guitars and harsh vocals.
After early singles and the EP "Bubblebath", she released debut album "Poppy.Computer" in 2017, followed by "Am I a Girl?" and breakthrough heavy album "I Disagree". Later records "Flux", "Zig", "Negative Spaces" and "Empty Hands" further cemented her genre-blurring approach through metalcore and pop-metal. Key songs such as "Lowlife", "X", "Concrete", "Bloodmoney", "New Way Out" and "Suffocate" have become fan favourites. "Bloodmoney" made her the first solo female artist nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance, and "Suffocate" earned her a second nomination.
