Philadelphia Union are a professional men's football team. Based in Philadelphia, they ply their trade in Major League Soccer.
History
Founded in 2008, Philadelphia Union joined MLS in 2010 as an expansion team in the Eastern Conference. The club's name is an homage to the Thirteen Colonies, of which the city was the first capital, and also to the historic role the area has played in the labour movement.
In 2020, the club secured silverware for the first time in its history, when it topped the MLS regular-season standings to win the Supporters' Shield.
In 2022, the Union reached the MLS Cup final for the first time, but lost on penalties to LAFC.
