Lima is represented by a number of Liga 1 Peruvian football teams including Alianza Lima who play their home games at Estadio Alejandro Villanueva, Sporting Crystal who play their home games at Estadio Alberto Gallardo, Universitario who play their home games at Estadio Monumental U, and Deportivo Municipal who play their home games at Estadio Iván Elías Moreno. Of course, the capital city is also home to the Estadio Nacionale where the Peruvian national football team plays its home games.
Once upon a time, Lima was a simple Inca city with pyramids and farms spread across the horizon. After being conquered by the Spanish in the 1530s, however, it became one of the biggest and most beautiful cities of Colonial Spain. And today? Today, Lima is a vast, chaotic, and enigmatic modern city laced with a colourful history and culture. While the centre is still defined by its magnificent Spanish colonial palaces, cathedrals, and convents, the Barranco district juxtaposes it with an exciting bohemian art scene. Meanwhile, Miraflores beautifully blends the city’s colonial side with the luxuries of modern life from shopping to dining. In fact, Miraflores has become internationally renowned as the leading destination for Peruvian cuisine thanks to its growing number of world-ranking restaurants.
It was great pleasure to see teenagers all over the globe doing so well and giving the best of themselves. As an athletics fan and mother of one of these athletes, who competed in Lima I would love to have full access to streamings and oportunity to share all track and field events, not just semi-finale and grand finale. Unfortunatelly our country did not buy rights to share live stream or show the evants on the national television, which I considered such a shame. Unluckily my son had a mishap during the qualifications and got injured so he couldn't finish his race. He was devasted, of course because his dreams ended without showing his best. For us, parents who watched this sudden moment of injury from another continent and not knowing for 15 minutes what was going on the track it was a nightmare. Regarding of injury it turned out it is a minor injury and we hope his recovery is about not to be very long when he return home to Croatia. At the end I just want to point it out one important thing, considering organisation. My son told me that there was a lot of injuries during the competition and the athletes had to wait in call room a pretty long time between the warm up zone and getting out on the track, which is not good for the athlete performance and also can be dangerous for its health. Nevertheless it was a lifetime experience for us and for him, for sure. And we enjoyed in athletics every minute.
