Gaddafi Stadium, originally known as Lahore Stadium, is a prominent cricket venue located in Lahore, Pakistan. Primarily used for hosting cricket matches, it serves as the home ground for the Pakistan national cricket team.

History

Opened on 21st November 1959, Gaddafi Stadium underwent significant renovation for the 1996 Cricket World Cup, during which it was renamed in honour of the former Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, for his support of Pakistan. The venue is situated near the vibrant Liberty Market area, making it a central fixture in the city's sporting landscape. Apart from cricket, the stadium periodically hosts concerts and other cultural events, although cricket remains its primary focus. With a capacity of approximately 27,000, it stands as one of the largest cricket stadiums in the country.
