Program Fauré - Requiem in D minor op. 48 Beethoven - Symphony No. 7
Description Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem in D minor op. 48, written at the height of his maturity and premiered on January 16, 1888, at Église de la Madeleine, is one of his best-known works. This Mass for the dead is considered one of Fauré’s masterpieces and one of the most beautiful requiems of the 19th century. The work, whose writing is highly personal, contains several pieces that rank among the most moving in Western choral music. The Symphony No. 7, meanwhile, is built around a progression in which rhythm plays the leading role, more so than melody, giving the work as a whole a dance-like character and considerable vigor.
