Since Montpellier’s Open Occitanie (formerly the Open Sud de France) became a fully-fledged ATP 250 event in place of the Grand Prix de Tennes de Lyon in 2010, the indoor hard court tournament has picked up where its predecessor left off. The rich lineage of the Grand Prix, first held in 1987, has meant that popularity, publicity, and a stellar field of players have not been hard to come by for the relatively new competition – and it also helps that the event also boasts fantastic proximity to the beautiful beaches of Montpellier!
The Open Occitanie regularly attracts a fantastic French contingent, but the tournament’s appeal comes from the strength of the entire draw; past winners of the event include Gaël Monfils, Tomáš Berdych, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and Jannik Sinner.
