There is a plentiful amount of parking space at the racecourse. It is free to park here on all racedays.
Please be advised that some routes to the venue and parking are diverted on racedays to ensure an organised flow of traffic. There will be clear signs to follow on these days.
For County Stand and Grandstand and Paddock racegoers, there are designated disabled car parks on Knavesmire Road adjacent to the County Stand Enclosure and off Bishopthorpe Road, adjacent to the old factory, and are free to orange/blue disabled badge holders (follow signs for ‘C’ car park). For Clocktower Enclosure racegoers, there is a designated free disabled car park on Knavesmire Road (follow signs for ‘A’ car park). The disabled entrance to the Picnic Enclosure is some 80 yards away, across the running track.
York Racecourse is just a 5 min taxi drive from York city centre and York Train Station. You can easily pre-book a taxi or take one from taxi ranks in the centre or outside the station.
York Racecourse can be reached by shuttle bus service 197 linking the course to York Train Station. Return fares are £3.00.
There is a coach and minibus drop-off and collection area within the Coach ‘C’ park, which is off Bishopthorpe Road to the south of the Terry’s Chocolate factory building. This will be clearly signposted from both the north and south of the course. Coaches and minibuses will not be allowed to stop on Bishopthorpe Road, Campelshon Road, Knavesmire Road, or outside the Terry’s factory, to drop off or collect racegoers. This also means that coaches/minibuses do not need to stay for the day but can return for the collection phase.
York Racecourse can be reached via LNER, CrossCountry, Grand Central, Transpennine Express, and Northern trains with fast and frequent connections to London Kings Cross, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, and many other destinations. Alight at York station, which is a 2.3 km (28 min) walk to the racecourse.
