Although just a short walk from Wellington’s CBD, Thorndon is considered a quiet and historic neighbourhood tucked on the far end of the waterfront near Sky Stadium and Wellington Station.

Te Aro, located just 1 kilometre away from Lambton Quay, is considered the city’s coolest neighbourhood. It offers plenty of quirky bars and clubs for those who want to experience the city’s nightlife.

Oriental Bay and Mount Victoria, on the edge of Wellington waterfront, are quieter and more wholesome neighbourhoods for families to enjoy, with beaches and parks nearby.

To truly make the most of the scenery that Wellington has to offer, there’s nowhere more perfect to stay than Kelburn. It may come with a high price tag, but the views over the entire harbour are totally worth it.

If you have a car available, or don’t mind taking public transport, there’s plenty more beautiful and peaceful neighbourhoods to stay in around Evans Bay, on the far side of Mount Victoria.
