Located immediately west of the Inner City, on the opposite side of the lush Hagley Park, Riccarton is more historic and quaint, yet still centrally located. As the student hub, this neighbourhood is filled with cool shops, bars, and restaurants, making it the best place for a memorable night out.
The neighbouring Merivale is the more refined older sister to Riccarton, as it offers trendy bars and boutiques, but with a more chic and upscale vibe.

With a reliable Metro bus network running across Christchurch, it’s easy to get around and explore the entire city from wherever you choose to stay. Of course, there’s also the historic tramway that stops at all the major attractions throughout the city.
