The New York Red Bulls are a football team playing in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference.
History
Founded in 1994, the club were founding members of MLS in 1996, when they were then known as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars.
They were taken over by energy drink giants Red Bull in 2006, prompting the rebranding of the team, and 4 years later they moved into their own stadium, having previously shared the Giants Stadium NFL arena.
The Red Bulls also made the high-profile signing of former Arsenal and Barcelona forward Thierry Henry in 2010; the Frenchman is one of several stars to have represented the Red Bulls over the years, along with the likes of Roberto Donadoni, Rafael Marquez, and Tim Cahill.
