Montpellier Hérault Sport Club - more commonly shortened to Montpellier HSC or simply Montpellier - is a French professional football club based in Montpellier, Occitanie and currently playing in the country's top tier Ligue 1. The club plays home games at Stade de la Mosson.
Founded in 1919 as Stade Olympique Montpelliérain (SOM), the club became what it is known as today in 1974 after a merger and the Nicollin family took over ownership. Many famous players have spent time at Montpellier including Laurent Blanc, Eric Cantona, and Olivier Giroud.
