The Bobcats are the football team of Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. They compete in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) of the NCAA and play in the Big Sky Conference.

Montana State first fielded a football team in 1897. From 1917 until 1956, the school competed in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), with spells of independence on either side of this period. The Bobcats won 5 conference championships during their 4 decades in the RMAC.
In 1963, Montana State joined the newly founded Big Sky Conference as a charter member. The Bobcats have won more than 15 conference championships since joining the Big Sky, including 3 consecutive shared championships between 2010 and 2012.
Montana State claims 3 national titles, including 1 FCS (then Division I-AA) title that was won in 1984.
