Monica Denise Arnold, known professionally as Monica and nicknamed "Goonica" by fans, is an American R&B singer from College Park, Georgia, United States. Discovered by producer Dallas Austin as a child and signed to Rowdy Records, she released her debut album "Miss Thang" in 1995, establishing herself as a leading voice in contemporary R&B. Her 1998 duet with Brandy, "The Boy Is Mine", became a defining hit and earned a Grammy Award, followed by further success with singles like "Angel of Mine", "So Gone", and "Everything to Me".
Across albums including "The Boy Is Mine", "After the Storm", "The Makings of Me", "Still Standing", "New Life", and "Code Red", Monica has showcased a blend of R&B, soul and pop.
