The Tigers are the football team of the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. They compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision of the NCAA and play in the American Athletic Conference.
Memphis has been a member of 4 different conferences in the program's history, and has won 8 conference titles. The Tigers won the Mississippi Valley Conference championship in 1929 and 1930, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship in 1938, and the Missouri Valley Conference in 1968, 1969, and 1971. From 2013 the Tigers have competed in the American Athletic Conference, winning the championship in 2014 and 2019.
One Memphis Tiger has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame β Isaac Bruce, a wide receiver who played for the Rams and the 49ers after leaving Memphis.
The Tigers play their home games at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, which has a capacity of 62,380.
