The Memorial Tournament is an annual PGA Tour event founded by golf legend Jack Nicklaus in 1976. Since its inauguration, this tournament has been played at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, near where Nicklaus grew up. Each year, the tournament selects an honouree who has distinguished themselves within the game of golf.
The Memorial Tournament has always been regarded highly by fans – in the 1990s it became the first PGA Tour event outside of the majors to reach "sold-out" status – and players alike, and its celebration of the sport and one of its biggest legends makes it one of the highlights of the golfing calendar each year.
