Mammoth, originally known as Mammoth WVH, is an American rock band spearheaded by Wolfgang Van Halen. The band originates from Los Angeles, United States, and its name pays homage to the earlier band Mammoth, featuring Wolfgang's father Eddie Van Halen and uncle Alex before the formation of Van Halen. Wolfgang initiated Mammoth as a solo endeavour but transitioned it into a full-time project following Van Halen’s disbandment in 2020.
Before forming Mammoth, Wolfgang joined Tremonti, a project by Mark Tremonti, and featured on two of their albums. Mammoth's self-titled debut album, "Mammoth WVH", was released in 2021, receiving widespread acclaim for its distinct sound and Wolfgang's musical prowess. The debut’s lead single, "Distance", served as a touching tribute to his late father. In 2023, the band released their second album, "Mammoth II". The project exhibited Wolfgang's growth and versatility, further establishing Mammoth’s unique sonic identity. Embracing a promising trajectory, the band continues to work on new music.
