Major League Table Tennis (MLTT) is an American table tennis league.
MLTT History
MLTT was founded in 2023 by software entrepreneur and table tennis club owner Flint Lane. The 8 founding teams of MLTT include Carolina Gold Rush, Princeton Revolution, Florida Gators, Chicago Wind, Portland Power, Seattle Spinners, Texas Smash, and Bay Area Blasters.
MLTT Format & Scoring
The league features 8 teams based in cities across the United States. In the augural season, teams were split geographically into East and West Divisions, but from 2024, the division format was removed to allow more flexibility to scheduling.
A division match includes 6 separate matchups:
- Team 1 Singles A v Team 2 Singles A
- Team 1 Singles B v Team 2 Singles B
- Team 1 Singles C v Team 2 Singles C
- Team 1 Singles D v Team 2 Singles D
- Team 1 Doubles v Team 2 Doubles
- Golden Game – all 5 players play for each team, alternating every 4 points
Each of these matchups is worth 3 points, except the Golden Game, which is worth 6 points. Each head-to-head match is therefore worth 21 points in total.
At the end of the season, the 2 teams from each division with highest points total qualify for the Final Four. The winning team from the Final Four competition earns the MLTT Cup and USD $100,000.
