Mac DeMarco, born Vernor Winfield McBriare Smith IV on 30 April 1990, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist noted for a laid-back style often described as indie rock, lo-fi, jangle pop, and soft rock. Born in Duncan, British Columbia, and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, he later lived in Montreal and New York before settling in Los Angeles, USA.
After early work leading the project Makeout Videotape, he released the debut EP "Rock and Roll Night Club" (2012) and the breakthrough album "2" (2012). He gained wider acclaim with "Salad Days" (2014), which was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize, followed by the mini-LP "Another One" (2015), "This Old Dog" (2017), and "Here Comes the Cowboy" (2019). Later releases include the instrumental album "Five Easy Hot Dogs" (2023) and the expansive collection "One Wayne G" (2023).
