The Fighting Tigers are the football team of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. They compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision of the NCAA and play in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
LSU has won 4 national championships and 16 conference championships, and boasts one of the most storied and successful football programs in the United States. The Tigers won their most recent national title in 2019, when they also won the SEC conference title.
In 2019, quarterback Joe Burrow won the Heisman Trophy, becoming the second ever LSU player to earn the accolade after Billy Cannon in 1959. Burrow also became the third Fighting Tiger to be picked first in the NFL Draft, after Cannon and Jamarcus Russell. In January 2022, there were 23 former Tigers on the active rosters of teams in the NFL Playoffs, the most of any college.
With a huge fan following throughout Louisiana and across the South, LSU is a true giant of the SEC.
