The Los Angeles Sparks, also known simply as the Sparks, are a professional women's basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. The Sparks operate in the Western Conference of the Women's National Basketball Association and their home venue is the Crypto.com Arena, which they share with the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, although they are not affiliated with either of the NBA sides.
Los Angeles Sparks History
The Sparks were established in 1997 as 1 of the WNBA's founding members, and they played New York Liberty in the league's inaugural game on 21 June that year.
After the Houston Comets romped to the first 4 WNBA championships, the Sparks became the first team to break their run, picking up back-to-back titles in 2001 and 2002 thanks in part to the efforts of star player Lisa Leslie.
Los Angeles also reached consecutive WNBA Finals in 2016 and 2017, playing the Minnesota Lynx in both; they won the former 3-2, but lost the latter by the same score.
