The Libema Open (also called the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships) is an annual tennis tournament, held on the outskirts of ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch), in the Netherlands.
When the event began in 1989, no one could have predicted that the present-day tournament would serve as an important grass court warm-up event before Wimbledon – the inaugural Open had only 8 players, and was seen as something of a novelty, or test event. Since 1990, however, the tournament was taken increasingly seriously, and has since played an important role in showcasing grass court tennis across continental Europe. Today, the Libema Open has a place on the ATP 250 tour. Past champions include Pat Rafter, David Ferrer, Richard Gasquet, and Dutch native Tim van Rijthoven, who, in 2022, won his first ever ATP matches on his way to claiming the title, beating then-world number 2 Daniil Medvedev in the final to conclude an extraordinary week of tennis!
