The Wildcats are the football team of Kansas State University. They compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the NCAA and play in the Big 12 Conference.
Founded in 1896, Kansas State's football program has gone through spells of dominance and much tougher times. The team has an overall losing record, but went undefeated in 1998 and ended the season ranked first in the country. The Wildcats claim 6 conference titles, with only 2 of those coming since 1935. The most recent was won in 2012, when Kansas State shared the Big 12 Championship with Oklahoma.
The Wildcats play their home games at Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium. The venue was named after Snyder when he retired as head coach at the end of the 2005 season, having been in the position since 1989. Snyder was brought out of retirement by Kansas State in 2009, when Ron Prince was let go after 2 consecutive losing seasons. Snyder retired once more in 2018, to be replaced by Chris Klieman.
