Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo is a football stadium located in Venice, Italy. It is the home of Venezia FC.
📜 History
The stadium opened in 1913 and was later named after World War I pilot Pier Luigi Penzo. Only Genoa's Stadio Luigi Ferraris, which opened 2 years prior, has been home to a professional Italian team longer.
In 1970, the venue sustained extensive damage in a tornado that hit the city. It came at a time of decline for the club and so the stadium was only partially restored with a reduced capacity of around 5,000; it was not until 1998 that it fully returned to its full capacity when it was expanded to 15,000.
Venezia's promotion to Serie A in 2021 prompted further improvements to the facilities.
