Visiting Treviso
Treviso, the capital and largest city in the province of Treviso in northeastern Italy, is steeped in thousands of years of history. Although it was originally built as a walled city by Ancient Rome, it was later controlled by the Venetians whose floating city can be found just 30 kilometres away. The Venetians built their own walls and gates which still stand in all their grand glory today. Much like Venice, Treviso is also laced with enchanting canals with romantic arched bridges that allow you to get lost in olde-worlde Italy. However, the province of Treviso has a few more surprises up its sleeve. Not only is it home to two more must-see walled towns, Castelfranco and Conegliano, but it is also home to prosecco, the world’s favourite sparkling wine. We’ll raise a glass to that.
