Perugia’s most convenient accommodation is found near to Piazza IV Novembre, in the historic centre. From here, all the main attractions, and the best shops and restaurants, are within easy walking distance. Accommodation outside this area requires walking up and down steep hills or public transport.
Prices are slightly cheaper near to Rocca Paolina towards the south of the historic centre, which is a little further from Perugia’s attractions but still within walking distance. The area also benefits from being a little quieter and more relaxed.
If you would prefer to indulge in rural Italy rather than a city break, consider staying near Lake Trasimeno, which is 42 km west of Perugia. Home to little fishing villages, large country houses, and luxury lakeside hotels, you're guaranteed to find peace and relaxation.
For a more cultural experience of central Italy, consider staying in Assisi, the birthplace of a revered Italian saint. The town is brimming with historic religious architecture and art, as well as that rustic Italian charm.
