The Ironman World Championship is an ultra-triathlon inaugurated in 1978. The Championship takes place at the event's spiritual home – the iconic Kona course in Kailua Bay. Revered by triathletes the world over as one of the toughest courses in existence, the Hawaiian gem, which combines coastal beauty with rugged difficulty, will once again welcome the globe's best racers as they test their bodies, minds, and spirits on a brutal, but picturesque 140.6-mile journey.
In 2023, the men's and women's races were split into 2 separating events, alternate each year between Nice, France, and Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. From 2026, the event merged back into a single event in Hawaii.
