The Vandals are the football team of the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. They compete in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) of the NCAA and play in the Big Sky Conference.
📜 Idaho Vandals Football History
The University of Idaho first fielded a football team in 1893 and the college adopted the Vandals nickname for all its sports teams in 1917.
The Vandals competed independently until 1922, when the team joined the Pacific Coast Conference. This membership lasted until 1958, after which Idaho went independent once again.
Between 1965 and 2013, the Vandals moved between several different conferences, including the Big Sky Conference, the Big West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
Idaho rejoined the Big Sky Conference in 2018.
