๐ Idaho State Bengals Football History
Idaho State fielded its first football team in 1902, under the name Academy of Idaho Bantams. This changed to the Idaho Technical Tigers from 1915 to 1926, and then the Idaho Southern Branch Tigers from 1927 to 1934. The nickname shifted from Tigers to Bengals in 1935, and the college was known as Idaho State from 1947 onwards.
After competing as an independent school from 1902 until 1949, Idaho State joined the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 1950. This membership lasted 10 years and brought the team 5 conference championships.
In 1963, the Bengals moved to the Big Sky Conference.
