📜 Harrogate Town History
The club was founded in 1919 as Harrogate Hotspurs. A team had been formed in Harrogate in 1914, but the outbreak of the FIrst World War meant football was suspended.
Hotspurs disbanded in 1932 only to return 3 years later, and after the Second World War they were renamed Harrogate Town.
After spending many years in regional divisions, Harrogate reached the National League in 2018, and 2 years later they achieved promotion to the Football League for the first time in their history.
They also lifted the FA Trophy in 2021; with the final having been delayed by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Harrogate became the first team to win the competition while competing in the EFL.
