Gorillaz are an English virtual band formed in 1998 in London, England, United Kingdom, by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. The project centres on four animated members – 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs – presented through videos, artwork, websites and live visuals.
Their music blends alternative rock, electronic, hip hop and pop, helping to redefine mainstream perceptions of Dance and Electronic music. The self-titled debut album "Gorillaz" (2001) introduced hits such as "Clint Eastwood", but breakthrough success arrived with "Demon Days" (2005), featuring "Feel Good Inc.", which earned a Grammy Award.
Subsequent albums "Plastic Beach", "The Fall", "Humanz", "The Now Now", "Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez", "Cracker Island" and "The Mountain" expanded their collaborative universe, working with artists across genres and generations. Gorillaz have toured globally with innovative live shows combining a real band, animation and immersive staging, and remain regarded as pioneers of virtual music groups and multimedia storytelling.
