Getafe Club de Fútbol - more commonly known as Getafe CF or even shortened to Getafe - is a professional Spanish football team currently playing in the country's elite tier La Liga. The team play home games at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez in Getafe just outside of Madrid.
Founded in 1983, the current Getafe CF is relatively young and was created from Club Getafe Deportivo (which itself was previously Sociedad Getafe Deportivo and founded in 1923). Since becoming Getafe Club de Fútbol and being promoted into La Liga in 2004, the team has gone from strength to strength for a smaller team; except for a slight blip in 2016 when they were relegated and then promoted again in 2017. The supporters are often known as Marea Azul or Azulones referring to the blue strip the team wears.
