The Kurländer Palais is a Baroque city palace and event venue in the historic centre of Dresden, Germany. Located close to the Neumarkt and Frauenkirche, it serves today as an exclusive setting for cultural events, receptions, conferences, banquets and private celebrations, including musical performances.
The palace was originally erected in the 18th century for Saxon nobility and later came into the possession of the Dukes of Courland, from whom it takes its name. Severely damaged during the bombing of Dresden in 1945, the building stood largely in ruins for decades in the post-war period. Following the reunification of Germany, plans were developed to reconstruct the palace as part of the wider restoration of Dresden’s historic core. Step by step, its façades and interiors were rebuilt in Baroque style, while adapting the interior layout for modern event use. Today, the Kurländer Palais is a prominent example of Dresden’s efforts to combine historical reconstruction with contemporary cultural life.
