France's first rugby league test match was against an England team also making its official debut. The win went to the visiting English team, but it opened the door for increased recognition for the French women's side.
As well as playing regularly against England, France have also played at 2 Rugby League World Cups, namely the 2008 and 2013 editions. After only winning 1 match across both tournaments, and a World Cup absence of nearly a decade, "The Chanticleers" will be keen to make the next step in their rugby league journey at the Rugby League World Cup.
