Unofficial French sides had been touring for a short time before the national team's first official test in 1934. A domestic club game soon flourished, and France grew as a rugby league force throughout the 20th century, collecting wins against rugby league powers Australia and England, as well as several exhibition sides.
France's Rugby League World Cup history is a proud one - they first competed in 1954, and have finished as losing finalists on 2 occasions. Recently, they have been less than consistent on the world stage, but with some strong showings at recent editions of the European Championship, good things are expected of "Les Tricolores"!
