Centre Ville is Saint-Étienne’s commercial hub, and where much of its accommodation is located. The neighbourhood is only around 1 km in diameter, and populated with shops, restaurants, and bars for those who are looking for a night out.
Directly east of the centre, Châteaucreux is where you’ll find the city’s main train station providing links to Lyon and around France. There are plenty of places to stay here, which benefit from both the nearby transport links and city centre location.
If you want to be close to both the commercial city centre, and the City of Design, where most events and exhibitions are held, stay in Jacquard-Préfecture. This small central neighbourhood, immediately north of Centre Ville, is within easy reach of both areas, and it boasts a great selection of international cuisines.
There’s a tram that runs directly through Saint-Étienne city centre from north to south, making it very easy to get around and visit many of the city’s highlights. The tram also stops at the main train station, so it’s easy to travel to different areas in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alps region if you want to explore further afield.
