The Panthers are the football team of Florida International University in Westchester, Florida. They compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision of the NCAA and play in the East Division of Conference USA.
📜 FIU Panthers Football History
FIU fielded its first football team in 2002, after several years of planning and preparation. The team originally competed as an independent school, without any attachment to a conference.
In 2005, the Panthers joined the Sun Belt Conference, where they played until 2012. FIU won 1 conference title in this period, sharing the 2010 Sun Belt championship with the Troy Trojans.
FIU moved to Conference USA in 2013.
