Football Club de Metz - more commonly known as FC Metz or simply Metz - is a French professional football club based in Metz, Lorraine and currently playing in the country's top tier Ligue 1. The club plays home games at Stade Saint-Symphorien.
Founded in 1932 as a merger between 2 amateur clubs, FC Metz has had mixed fortunes throughout history - with its most impressive performance coming in 1997/98 when it secured second place in the top tier - and was most recently promoted to Ligue 1 at the end of the 2022/23 season. The club is known for having an impressive youth system with the superstar names of Robert Pires, Louis Saha, and Sadio Mané among others all passing through the academy at Metz.
