Operating in the Western Conference, FC Dallas are a Major League Soccer football team.
History
The club are a founding member of MLS, being founded themselves in 1995 as Dallas Burn, a moniker they held until renaming to FC Dallas in 2004. The original name was chosen in reference to Texas' hot weather and the burning of oil fields that takes place in the state.
Dallas lifted the US Open Cup in just their second season in 1997, and they lifted it again in 2016 as part of a double with their first Supporters' Shield title.
In 2010, they reached the MLS Cup final for the first time in their history, but finished as runners-up to the Colorado Rapids.
