The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships is an annual tennis tournament and a favourite amongst fans and players on both tours, regularly winning Tournament of the Year accolades in both the ATP and WTA end-of-year awards. It began life as the Dubai Men's Open back in 1993, and was then extended 8 years later to include female players. The women's tournament, played over the first week, alternates between a WTA 1000 and WTA 500 event; the men's ATP 500 tournament follows in the second week.
The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships is now one of the biggest tennis events in the Middle East, and combines on-court action with a range of off-court entertainment.
