Doechii, born Jaylah Hickmon, is a rapper-singer from Tampa, United States. A boundary-pushing artist, she blends hip-hop, R&B, pop-rap and alternative influences, often weaving theatrical performance and character-driven storytelling into her music and visuals.
After building an online following, she independently released the EP "Oh the Places You’ll Go" in 2020. Her breakout came with the viral single "Yucky Blucky Fruitcake", which led to her signing with Top Dawg Entertainment, later partnering with Capitol. In 2022 she issued "Persuasive" and the ferocious "Crazy", with a "Persuasive" remix featuring SZA. The EP "She/Her/Black Bitch" cemented her as TDE’s first female rapper and a daring new voice. In 2023, "What It Is (Block Boy)" widened her mainstream reach. She has been spotlighted by platforms such as the XXL Freshman Class and has delivered high-impact TV and festival performances. Her debut album "SWAMP PRINCESS" arrived in 2024, further showcasing her shapeshifting artistry and Southern-rooted flair while expanding her pop-cultural footprint.
