The Flyers are the football team of the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. They compete in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) of the NCAA and play in the Pioneer Football League.
📜 Dayton Flyers Football History
Dayton fielded its first football team in 1905. For the first 20 years of the program, the Flyers competed as an independent school.
In 1926, Dayton joined the Ohio Athletic Conference, and in 1935 the team moved to the Buckeye Athletic Association. This was followed by another spell as an independent team, which lasted until 1992.
The Flyers joined the Pioneer Athletic League in 1993 and won the conference championship in their very first season.
