Dave Matthews Band (often known as DMB) is an American rock group formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States, in 1991 by singer‑guitarist Dave Matthews with Carter Beauford, LeRoi Moore and Stefan Lessard, later joined by Boyd Tinsley and Peter Griesar. Blending rock, pop rock, alternative rock, jam band improvisation, acoustic rock and jazz rock, they built a devoted following through dynamic live shows and constant touring.
Their debut studio album "Under the Table and Dreaming" (1994) and its successor "Crash" (1996) produced signature singles such as "What Would You Say", "Ants Marching" and "Crash into Me", and earned the group a Grammy Award for "So Much to Say". Subsequent albums including "Before These Crowded Streets", "Busted Stuff", "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King", "Come Tomorrow" and "Walk Around the Moon" cemented their reputation, with seven consecutive studio albums debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In 2024 Dave Matthews Band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
